Our clients in Northfield, OH, wanted to add just such an outdoor room, and we designed it for them as a covered patio. You can tell by the way they’ve furnished the space that they plan to spend a great deal of time out here! They have plenty of seating and room to entertain, with a fire pit for sheer enjoyment. They also have space for a grill and a dining table, so they’re ready to enjoy delicious meals outdoors. The entire setting says, taking it easy and living the good life.

How Does Archadeck of Akron Create Your Custom Outdoor Room?

Since your Akron porch builder is also your Akron hardscape builder us—we’re skilled at bringing together the components to create your perfect outdoor room. Did we mention that we’re also your Northfield OH porch builder and hardscape builder? Because we design and build a full range of outdoor living structures, we are able to combine them to create multi-faceted, multi-functional outdoor rooms.

Once you start exploring the options for an outdoor living combination space, you’ll see that the possibilities are truly endless. What components would you choose for your combination space? A screened porchlow-maintenance deck and pergola? A deck and patio combo with a fire feature? We help you select the structures you want and combine them in a custom design to function as a cohesive outdoor living space. You select the materials you want for the project, with our help. Then, all you have to do is relax and enjoy.

A Covered Porch or Patio is Your Protected Outdoor Space

These Northfield OH homeowners wanted a protected outdoor space where they could relax comfortably. In this case, protected meant covered, not screened. When we build a patio with a roof over it, some folks call it a porch and some call it a covered patio. We call it shade! These homeowners will not need to sit in the sun unless they want to.

For this project we built a custom stain and stamp concrete patio in a 36" Ashlar stamp pattern. Working with the slope of the yard, we incorporated a hardscape retaining wall into the project. The low wall embraces the patio and creates a visual boundary for the space. An additional hardscape element is the gas-burning fire pit. We built these hardscapes with Techno-bloc blocks and wall caps.

For the patio cover, we designed a roof with a stunning open-gable end. We used tongue and groove pine for the ceiling and wrapped all of the beams in cedar and posts in AZEK. If you look closely, you can see the steps we built for the doorway leading into the home. We used low-maintenance AZEK for the steps, an extremely durable material perfect for any high-traffic area. Also, bringing indoor comforts outdoors, we installed recessed can lights in the ceiling as well as everyone’s favorite, the ceiling fan.

In addition to the elements you can see here, the scope of this project included work to resolve drainage issues near the retaining wall. We also tied in all of the downspouts for the space. While this isn’t the glamorous side of the work we do, it will keep this outdoor living room free of drainage problems.
