Stately, elegant, tastefully refined, and functionally beautiful, Archadeck craftmanship and design talent has turned this backyard into something very special indeed.
To make the previously installed stamped concrete patio more accessible and functional, regardless of time of day or the weather, our team created a covered porch addition complete with an outdoor kitchen – making food preparation duties and cooking indoors virtually obsolete.
Ultimately It Was All About Adding Shaded Comfort
The first order of design business was to create an addition which would provide the family with protective shade. The addition of the wonderfully-equipped outdoor kitchen was the bonus feature that makes this space timeless.
To make maintenance of the new covered porch project as easy as humanly possible, the covered porch beams and posts are all crafted out of low maintenance AZEK.
When it comes to the trifecta of beauty, low maintenance, and durability, you simply can’t do better than AZEK.
Adding Just The Right Touch Of Stone To This Covered Porch Addition
The stone chosen for the pillars and used on the outdoor kitchen is Unilock Brussels Dimensional Stone. Without question, it is one of the most versatile and trusted landscape building blocks on the market today. It is an excellent choice to construct any outdoor hardscape project with only a few tools and some concrete adhesive.
Other product applications it can be used for include planters, steps, grill islands, pillars, and seating walls.
For the kitchen countertop, we chose granite. Compared to concrete, granite is inherently more resistant to scratches and stains. If you're looking for a low-maintenance countertop material for your outdoor kitchen, granite itself is an extremely dense and hard material. There is no need to worry about scratches or dings here. And with the right sealer, granite is highly resistant to staining.
As granite absorbs heat well and it can get very hot when under direct sunlight, it is an ideal choice for outdoor kitchens within covered porch roof areas.
Natural Wood Adds To The Texture And Charm Of The Great Outdoors
The covered porch interior ceiling and the doors are ever-classic knotty pine. To protect and retain its beautiful highlights and glow, waterproofing with polyurethane, varnish, or lacquer is strongly recommended. The wood can also be stained, white washed or painted as well.
One of the significant advantages of natural knotty pine wood planks is the tongue and groove and end-matching features for paneling ceilings and walls. Tongue and groves on both the sides and ends of knotty pine boards let them lock together tightly anywhere between the studs.
