Down With That Old Wooden Deck – Up With That New Lower Footprint Outdoor Living Space

As they say, there’s more than one way to skin a cat – in a manner of speaking.

When we first arrived at this Round Rock residence, we found a redwood stained deck that had seen better days. Rather than replace it or upgrade it with a deck replacement, the family decided to do something a little more aesthetically different and pleasing to the eye.

A Sweeping Hardscape Welcomes All To New Heights Of Outdoor Living Luxury

One of the challenges with the old wooden deck structure was that it was so high that once you were on the decking boards, you were virtually on display for all to see. Simply put, there was no privacy whatsoever.

In the transformation of this backyard design, the family wanted the improved outdoor area to have a lower footprint for a host of reasons – privacy being one of the most significant. The solution? A magnificently designed and appointed patio hardscape.

After Archadeck of Austin installed the new patio space.

Within the beautifully sculpted elevations of the recessed hardscape with inset lighting, one of the first additions was that of a hot tub for soothing relation and conversation.

At the opposite end, there is now an outdoor dining area with a lovely

redwood stained teak dinner table, bench, and black accent chairs added by the homeowners.

To Increase Functionality, Let There Be Light

With Austin warm weather evenings providing some of the most memorable moments outdoors with family and friends, we strategically added integrated lighting into the new space. We say strategically as it had to be installed using special PVC piping in order to make the illumination sources invisible, design cohesive, and fully controllable without any design interruption.

Speaking of design, we also added decorative vents to the outdoor kitchen area for adequate ventilation within the space.

Curves And Swerves Add Stunning Drama To This Outdoor Open Air Gem

One of our most applauded design nuances is the curved staircase on the left end of the hardscape open porch patio. We also included two additional sets of stairs for a total of 3 beautifully designed, functional stairways to enter and exit the area.
