By now, you’ve learned that any Archadeck Outdoor Living designed and built project attached to Archadeck of Austin’s name is a winner.
This extensive renovation and upgrade in Cedar Park, TX, is a perfect example.
A Deck Extension, A Fireplace, Privacy Screens, And So Much More
Our previous client homeowners now wanted to do a major renovation on the back of their house, focused on the left rear of the home.
Space before our initial project with this client.
For starters, our team designed and built a porch, and then replaced the side of their home with large sliding glass doors to enable them to open up the entire back of the house when the weather is favorable, which thankfully is quite often here in Texas.
This new vista now enables them to extend their interior living room onto their deck.
Getting this project was a true delight as we first built an outdoor project for them about 12 years ago, so I guess it was time for a refresh and upgrade. At that time, we added corrugated metal under their upper deck with the under deck guttering to make it dry – a rain deck, if you will.
After completion of the first project, but prior to the newest outdoor living transformation.
However, they wanted something more permanent and indicative of a true outdoor living space and they wanted a fireplace, and more.
Extending Decks Into The Backyard And Adding The Warm Glow Of A Fireplace
We extended the existing deck three feet further out into the backyard, having to pour concrete around the area adjacent to the front of the deck – then over to the side – where we covered the concrete with flagstone to match their existing pool decking.
At the front of the deck, our team added the stone bench, for a brief sit while out there, as well as other functional utility.
And speaking of “sitting” in the outdoors, what better squat is there than to sink yourself down into the whirling warm waters of their new hot tub.
For soaking the slings and arrows of the work day away, we also added a gas corner fireplace to warm chills in the evening air and soothe the soul. Our material of choice for this treasure is white limestone. Notice the corner placement which our team thought would be very unique!
Premium Low Maintenance Outdoor Building Products For The Finest Projects Anywhere
AZEK decking was used on the deck and in Coastal Gray with a Dark Hickory Border. AZEK is one of our “go-to” materials for deck and porch building. Their AZEK composite decks never need to be stained or sanded, meaning these home owners will spend more time enjoying their home improvement extension and less time maintaining it.
Even better, AZEK composite decking resists mold, mildew, stains and scratches, meaning they also don't have to worry about material defects, splinters, or damage from termites or rot.
The new creatively designed privacy screens are hideaway screens on the main lebreeze – gently tempered.
Moving on to the stunning pergola over the upper deck, what an amazing topper for this extraordinary outdoor living space recreation and transformation.
Under that upper deck and within the ceiling of the covered patio, we installed a Synergy wood ceiling. Their line of prefinished wood for ceilings and walls is legendary.
For 37 years, their meticulous quality, attention to detail, and proprietary processes have earned Synergy a reputation as a leading expert in prefinished wood.
Their prefinished wood attributes include:
• Proudly Made in America

As for that stunning iron railing that you just can’t keep your eyes off of, it is custom, and also designed by owner, Jim Odom. No surprise, right?
Other amenities include a well-placed spot for a TV to be installed above the fireplace and a storage area under the space, as well.
The skirting surrounding the project is the old reliable Solid Hardie. Hardie (also known as cement board skirting), when used as siding, is a great product. It withstands rain, hail, high winds, storms, snow, ice, harsh humidity, and temperature changes – which makes it perfect for outdoor living space construction.
The crowning-touch, up top … that majestic pergola. WOW! What a stunner.
