Simply put, as the adage goes, “It takes one to know one.”
It’s common sense that when you work in a trade focused on excellence in building, you would turn to fellow professionals when in need of related services and skill sets. Hence, this former stone mason turned to Archadeck.
With rich experience in building exquisite combination outdoor living spaces throughout the greater Austin area, this Archadeck team had exactly what it took to execute this masterful backyard oasis for leisure and entertaining.
A Vizcaya Neighborhood Deck, A Deck Pergola Cover, And An Outdoor Kitchen – Custom Built To Order
As many of our custom outdoor living spaces are low to the ground employing various combination concrete masonry unit (CMU) methodologies, this ground-level deck and accompanying custom features were in good hands.
How Was The Deck Constructed?
We’re glad you asked.
To get the project started, we built a concrete foundation for the CMU kitchen; and the deck was built around the foundation for the CMU kitchen. No matter how you looked at it, it was low maintenance all the way for this seasoned pro.
Being a member of the masonry trade, the homeowner not only had specific ideas about the design, layout, and functionality for this combination space, but he also had a supply of stone and hardscape materials on hand for us to incorporate into the project! Talk about serendipity.
For the sweeping deck foundation, no muss, no fuss was the order of the day. To achieve that, we used the TimberTech Landmark series in the color Castle Gate. This is the richly grained, distinctive cross-cut style of the TimberTech Advanced PVC Landmark Collection.
Our strategy in using this acclaimed synthetic decking material was to deliver the sensibility of the bold, character-rich texture of popular hardwoods like white oak and walnut without the rigorous maintenance of wood.
This capped polymer decking features proprietary materials technology that delivers sophisticated, real wood aesthetics you’ll never have to sand, stain, or seal. And in the deep coastal palette of Castle Gate, the variegated gray tones set the stage for unparalleled beauty, as well as performance.
We Used The Homeowner's Stone And Brick In Part For The Outdoor Kitchen
There are leftovers, and then there are LEFTOVERS.
In the world of stone masonry, these leftovers were a wonderful Godsend. They inspired the interesting design schematic for the multiple tonal stone and brick surfaces that serve as the foundation of the L-shaped outdoor kitchen.
Featuring virtually all of an indoor kitchen features and conveniences, this high functioning outdoor kitchen is a chef’s paradise, with plenty of storage and refrigeration making it unnecessary to venture indoors while preparing that alfresco dinner or barbecue.
Sit Where You Like And Make Yourself Comfortable
Guests can observe the chef at work in the outdoor kitchen counter stools opposite the cooking station. If they prefer, they can sink into the overstuffed outdoor swivel rocking chairs. And being low to the ground, they can even enjoy their warmer weather refreshment parked on the edge of the deck. Should a spill occur, no worries. Low maintenance cleanups are a key part of what this Vizcaya outdoor kitchen is all about.
Pergola Patio Cover Perfection – In A Big Way
Because of the generous span of this multifaceted outdoor combination space, we used a 6x16 glulam beam and wrapped it in cedar. As for the posts, they are 8x8 cedar. The beam itself? A 6x16 25-foot wide glulam beam. Talk about a Big Boy! We had to have lifts on site to install it as its heavy duty girth required it.
