What started out as a major renovation on the back on their house 12 years ago stood the test of time and utility and it was time for a refresh, upgrade, and rethink on how to add privacy and increased functionality.

Extending Two Decks Into The Backyard And Adding The Warm Glow Of A Fireplace
The upgrade solution started by extending the existing lower deck three feet further out into the backyard, having to pour concrete around the area adjacent to the front of the deck – then over to the side – where we covered the concrete with flagstone to match their existing pool decking.
At the front of the deck, our team added a tailored stone bench, for a brief place to sit while out there overlooking the aqua waters of the family inground pool and hot tub, as well as other functional utility.
Once back in the lower structure, the gas corner fireplace stands ready to warm chills from the evening air and soothe the soul. Our material of choice for this treasure is white limestone.
Wide Open Outdoor Living Spaces Evolve Into Semi-Private Enclaves
Whereas the original structure was wide open except for the lower rain deck roof cover, this redesign upgrade focused on adding a touch of solitude when desired.
Instead of living in a proverbial backyard fishbowl, the transformation was designed in such a way to lessen unwanted views and occasional winds with stunning privacy panels on both levels at the farthest left side.
Low Maintenance Building Materials Allow For Easy Outdoor Living, In High Style
As one of the joys of outdoor living is total relaxation and enjoyment, the last thing this family wanted to be concerned with was keeping this new multi-tiered space looking fresh and inviting.
To that end, AZEK decking was used on the deck in Coastal Gray with a Dark Hickory Border.
