One of our favorite areas to work in here at Archadeck of Birmingham is Hoover, AL. One of the benefits of living in Hoover is the ambiance of upscale country living while remaining just a short drive away from the conveniences of Birmingham’s metro areas. Hoover homeowners also have the luxury of spacious, wooded lots perfect for outdoor living! Many of the region’s properties are not only picturesque but also well-suited for outdoor entertaining. Such is the case with the recent project we just completed in lovely Altadena Woods!
New & Improved Hoover Backyard
These homeowners had an existing porch in which they wanted to build out from to extend their outside living real estate. The kind of structure they had in mind for this project was the addition of a new low-maintenance deck. As part of the project, they also wanted to update and improve the porch they already had. As your local Screened porch and deck builders we were able to transpose their vision and ideas into a custom design. After finalizing the plan, Archadeck of Birmingham got to work on this new deck and improved porch project.
New Deck with Attention to Detail
The design of the new deck addition is awe-inspiring. The footprint features a wrap-around design with octagonal edges. With a spacious flowing step-down, the homeowners can easily reach the backyard effortlessly and the transition is easy on the eyes as well!
For the new deck addition, we used TimberTech Pro Terrain decking in the Brown Oak color. Since the deck is low-to-grade, no railing was required by code. Not having to install railing on this stunning deck just adds to the appeal as it delivers clean, crisp, unfettered views of the lovely setting.
Improved Screened Porch Feels Like New!
Archadeck of Birmingham didn’t end with the new deck, we also revamped the existing screened porch. The improvements we made to the porch reflect a truly custom approach to improving an existing outdoor living space. First, we installed new pressure-treated wall posts to the porch. We then added a pressure-treated wooden rail (knee wall) to the custom height of 24" to give it a one-of-kind look and feel. We also rescreened the entire perimeter. Archadeck installed beautiful Deckorators aluminum balusters within the knee wall span and inside the screen door to create a cohesive aesthetic.
We took the screened porch comfort level up a notch from their previous structure. In order to ensure all the clients were covered (even the 4-legged variety), we installed the doggie door provided by the homeowner. As your trusted Hoover porch builder, we also installed pet screen below the rail and within the door. This is standard with our screened porch additions when the clients have pets.
