So you think you got problems. A family in Mountain Brook had a pressure-treated deck that had seen better days. The deck was showing signs of age, and the footprint only offered living space extending 12’ from the house. After contacting Archadeck of Birmingham the consensus was to remove, reconfigure, redesign, and rebuild, for a multitude of good reasons.
Gorgeous new deck and screened porch combination in Mountain Brook, by Archadeck of Birmingham.
Following their free design consultation with this Mountain Brook deck builder, it was a unanimous decision that the failing structure had to come down to ensure safety first.
Existing deck before project began.
When looking at design solutions, the family agreed that creating a new, larger area for the deck foundation would be smart considering how the family was using and enjoying this outdoor living space.
Giving them a Mountain Brook screened porch in the process, the new structure measures 32-feet in width and extends out 16-feet out from the house exterior – a marked improvement for space and functionality.
As for materials, it was decided to use beautiful and durable pressure treated wood for the deck and adjoining staircase, complimented with a pressure treated rail. This allows for a beautifully streamlined design,
further accented with aluminum balusters for excellent long-term durability.
The descending staircase leads to an 8-foot square landing platform that is adjacent to the family’s driveway for added convenience.
In addition to screening in this new porch, we finished it with a pressure treated premium wood floor, interior upward views reveal a beautifully appointed v-joint grooved ceiling, made complete for evening enjoyment with recessed can lighting and a ceiling fan.
The best part of upgrading and redesigning this space is that this fortunate family can generously extend their usable amount of outdoor living space in beautiful comfort.
