This new screened porch and side deck addition stands where an aging wooden deck once stood. Located in the Russet Woods neighborhood of Hoover, AL, this project serves as the perfect example of a backyard transformation gone right.
These clients originally had a wooden deck approximately 16 x 16 which Archadeck of Birmingham removed. In its place, we designed and built a spacious new deck and screened porch combination.
The new deck and porch features TimberTech Terrain low-maintenance decking in Brown Oak. We used this decking on both the floor of the porch and on the deck for fluidity of design.

We installed pressure treated wall posts, screened panels and a v-joint spruce ceiling within the porch. We used a mixed media design on the railings with pressure treated combined with black aluminum balusters and a rail cap built from the TimberTech decking in Brown Oak.
Part of the updated space included changing the direction of the stairs to make the flow and transition of the space more convenient.
The deck features a bay corner, not only for enhanced aesthetics but to address the setbacks needed for the septic area. The homeowner intends to install a paver patio over this area using reclaimed vintage bricks.
