Our most recent deck project, for example, is an excellent illustration of this pet-friendly design solution.
During this family’s free design consultation they showed us the wooden deck they have been using that was much too small for them to fully enjoy, and it had a protruding bay window which proved to be another annoying obstacle.
Our design solution was to demolish the old deck and start from scratch – pun intended – and build them a new one. To make it doggy heaven, we chose Fiberon Earth-friendly Grey Birch decking. It’s easy on pet paws and family feet alike. No splinters to worry about at all. Just seamless outdoor living beauty and perfection. The ultimate comfort.
When it comes to maintenance and clean up, even pet mishaps are a breeze to deal with. Just a quick swish of a garden hose, leaves no tell-tale sign of what happened.
Another consideration with composite, low-maintenance decking is the durability safety of your boards. If you are concerned about an animal’s claws leaving scratch marks on your deck boards, Fiberon and other composite deck materials are extremely resistant to pet scratches.

Take, for example, the dog ramp we designed for this family’s pooch – completed with a tiny dog hand rail. Now that’s a creative design solution if there ever was one.
For the family, for added outdoor protection and safety, we added a deck railing using pressure treated pine with a Fiberon cap to match the Grey Birch now on the deck floor.
