An Outdoor Sanctuary Without Walls But Plenty Of Sun And Weather Protection Overhead
Supported by 8 majestic column beams we transformed what originally was just an elevated patio with a fireplace.
The challenge was to cover the original patio as previously it was seldom used during extremely hot temperatures and rain. The homeowners decided to have Archadeck put a roof on it so they would be able to use it more often. And use it they are!
This roofed structure is known as a gazebo.
We matched the trim on the columns to those on the home.
You will also notice that we matched the gutters with precisely the same color to have it appear that this outdoor gem was always there – always a part of the plan.
Speaking Of Color, Everything Is Painted To Match
A closer look inside reveals that the covered gazebo interior ceiling is a closed rafter with beadboard and king beam details.
Our precision team used LVL in the construction to make it super strong and beefy. Laminated veneer lumber, abbreviated to LVL, is a type of structural composite lumber commonly used in wood construction for both residential and commercial buildings.
Similar in concept to plywood, LVLs consist of multiple thin wood veneers adhered with high strength adhesives. Made in a factory under controlled specifications, LVL is stronger, straighter, and more uniform. Due to its composite nature, it is much less likely than conventional lumber to warp, twist, bow, or shrink, which is a significant reason why we chose it for this covered gazebo application.
With An Eye On Functionality, Archadeck Is Clearly The Obvious Choice
Once inside this covered outdoor living masterpiece, we wanted to make sure it functioned as well as any interior enclosed space. To achieve that, we added recessed can lighting and ceiling fans for added functionality.
We coordinated with Ken's Stereo to install the sound system and dual back-to-back smart TVs for football fan nights, as well as alfresco movie evenings.
As for the covered gazebo posts, they are crafted out of fiberglass for future low maintenance and we anchored them to the concrete patio for added stability.
