As a kid, one of my sports idols wore the number Fifteen: Bart Starr of the Green Bay Packers was a champion, on the field and off. Fifteen was a special and influential number to me in my formative years and it became my favorite number. It reminds me of champions, character and the joy I felt when Starr and the Packers did well, as they often did. I’ve always liked the feel of Fifteen and I’ve always strived to be a Fifteen.
Archadeck of Central Iowa began its Fifteenth year of operation in March of 2018. Fifteen is not an insignificant number when it comes to this (or any) business. Because behind that Fifteen are even more significant numbers…hundreds of deck, porch and patio projects; millions of dollars of projects and thousands of tons of decking boards, concrete, patio pavers, porch shingles (and metal) and other materials and hardware. Not to mention the weight of responsibility to deliver our projects successfully, every time, every year. Fifteen years is certainly worthy of reflection, celebration and thanksgiving.
Reflection comes in the form of a special Fifteen photo gallery (thumbnails below, click links for full gallery view) where I selected one project from each of our 15 years as Archadeck of Central Iowa and, for good luck,
one project from our predecessor (of 6 years), Archadeck of Des Moines. The logic for these selections was somewhat random. Some were just “oh yeah” moments; some have never been published on the interwebs and some you’ll find in other galleries here, but maybe different views. So there may be some surprises here…maybe in how styles have changed…or maybe not. To some extent, I hope it’s the latter because there is also much to be said for consistency…quality never going out of style. On the other hand, I’d like to think we keep getting better and have evolved with the times. Have fun with it; they are displayed in no particular order so see if you can tell older decks from newer decks; same with the porches and patios. If you want to try to order them by year, e-mail us or message us via Facebook with your guess. We might even have a special “prize” for anyone (first 3) who get it right.
As for the celebration part, we celebrated in in several forms throughout 2018, including limited-time, Fifteen discounts on select projects or components…which are running thru March, 2019. Check our Special Offers page for current offerings.
Of course, like Bart Starr, none of this is possible without the support of a “team” behind us. That team includes (but not limited to): our families; our Outdoor Living Brands franchise support group in Richmond, VA; our network of like-minded and supportive Archadeck | Outdoor Living offices across the country (and Canada!); our local suppliers, vendors and business service providers; our employees and crews; and, most importantly, our clients for the great projects and opportunities you’ve brought to us over our Fifteen years. “Thank You” all for your support – past and future.
In case there was any doubt, we are not stopping at Fifteen. In fact, we may only just be getting started. Des Moines and Central Iowa are as vibrant and attractive locales as anywhere in the country (that doesn’t have an ocean beach or mountains). Outdoor Living is a popular, exciting and rewarding aspect of home value and enjoyment…when its done right…by Design. We’ve been doing it that way for a long time and its our continuing pledge to you.
