Our most recent sunroom addition is located on the Lexington side of beautiful Lake Murray. Though the sunroom is on a smaller scale than many of our outdoor room projects, it satisfies and serves the function these homeowners had in mind.
As you can see from the “before” image, the back yard originally consisted of a wooden deck with stair access to the side yard and into the patio on the opposite side. When we met for the design consultation, the homeowners were looking for a way to enjoy the scenic views of the lake from their back yard, but in a conditioned space to keep them cool and dry.
Before
The heavy, dense design of the railing on their existing deck made it difficult to enjoy the views from within their home. It was only natural that a sunroom offering as much glass as possible, along with a way to heat and cool the space, was the perfect answer. Here at Archadeck, we realize that small spaces have every opportunity to add as much enjoyment and benefit as large spaces do, and this serene sunroom addition is proof!
After
Archadeck of Central South Carolina designed and built this light and airy sunroom to speak to the homeowners’ needs. It features wide glass windows and a glass knee wall, which is somewhat unusual and perfect for this space! We also added dual wooden stairs, mimicking the footprint of the original deck, which lead to the side yard and into the homeowners’ patio, just as before.
Investing in a custom sunroom is a wise decision for many reasons. Even if the sunroom does not encompass a large area, the added square footage potentially increases the value of your home. Sunroom additions also increase the heated and cooled interior space that you can enjoy year-round.
