In life, bigger does not always equate to better. In the case of this Archadeck of Central SC project, however, it does. Many homeowners find themselves with a porch or deck they enjoy but just wish they had more space. Adding space for family and friends to gather is one of the needs we hear about most frequently from our clients. Such was the case with this beautiful Northeast Columbia porch.

For this custom porch extension, we used pressure-treated wood decking for the floor, stairs, and custom porch railing. The framing of the railing is wood, and the infill of metal pickets is from Deckorators. This pairing not only creates an eye-catching design but allows for open views through the railing. The turned stair helps accomplish two things. It eliminates a long run of stairs. It also gives the homeowners a choice of entry location into the yard.

Many homeowners still choose wood over composites for their porches and decks for a more classic design aesthetic. The existing porch was wood construction. With the new extension, their porch space is now 28 feet wide. This family will have much more room to move around and enjoy the views from this elevated outdoor living space.
Archadeck of Central SC also built a custom planter box for this stunning porch, which will allow the homeowners to change the space for the season. Designer touches like this one give our clients ways to truly make their space their own.

Just look at the beautiful, natural wood porch flooring. We installed the decking boards in an angular chevron pattern, and the two sections meet at a perpendicular parting board. This is not only a lovely flooring installation, but it is inherently stronger than the standard board orientation.
