In many newer communities today, homes are situated in close proximity to each other, and also to common areas in the neighborhood. This sort of community planning not only facilitates the addition of more needed homes in a smaller area but also encourages us to get to know our neighbors. This Westerville, Ohio, community is one such place. Each home uniquely backs up to a common walking path, and as such, it was incumbent upon Archadeck of Columbus submit an acceptable design that did not encroach on or impede the view of the common area.

This gorgeous deck addition was built with low-maintenance TimberTech Legacy decking in the Pecan finish. The entire perimeter of the split level deck is finished with picture framing for a buttoned-up aesthetic. The Westbury bronze aluminum railings are the perfect complement to the pecan decking, and both the deck and railings are a great dark contrast to the home’s light siding, trim, and stone finishes. As you can see, the deck is spacious enough for seating, eating, and grilling…and that’s just on the lower level. Our original design for the upper level was to have it extend as far as the lower. However, the HOA required us to redact the upper level to adhere to their building specifications.

The aluminum railings have an adapter, which allowed for the installation of a low-maintenance decking board top rail. The TimberTech stair includes riser lights and picture framing. The entire deck boasts custom low-maintenance fascia trim. Each small detail plays into the overall beauty of the entire space.
