Their original pressure-treated wood deck had reached the end of its useful life, so a completely new deck was in order. Meanwhile, the new deck design had to meet the requirements set forth by the condominium HOA. These rules meant adhering to a height limit for the privacy walls which surround the deck.

This deck was built from pressure-treated pine. Which is a solid choice structurally and aesthetically and helps keep the costs lower than those of synthetic decking. Wood does require regular maintenance to keep it looking its best. This entails staining or sealing on at least an annual basis depending on the deck’s proximity to direct sun or northern exposure, the elements and other factors.
The homeowners opted to for a design that utilizes the front of the deck facing into the rear yard for privacy, along with all four sides.
