When Archadeck of Columbus initially consulted on this project, these homeowners had a typical builder-grade back stoop. When we use the term “dull” to describe the existing space they had we are no way conveying negativity. However, the area in mind was strictly utilitarian and not meant for outdoor living. We readily see these type of spaces on newly built homes, which consist of nothing more than a landing and steps built with accessibility in mind and not enjoyment.

Once our talented designer sat down with the homeowners and listened to what they wanted out of an outdoor living space, we got to work on a versatile design that would address all their needs. When we run into this type of situation, we see this as an opportunity to not only increase the curb appeal of the client’s home, but also a way to improve their lifestyle as a whole. These homeowners favored the look and feel of an all hardscape outdoor living space. They also requested that their design included room for dual outdoor living – with areas for seating and dining. As the areas patio and hardscape expert as well as the premier Unilock builder, they chose the right company!

Archadeck of Columbus crafted a spacious custom patio using all Unilock hardscapes. We designed the area large enough to encompass all the functions they wish to carry out, whether it is outdoor dining, entertaining friends and family or just relaxing.
The patio was built using Unilock’s Beacon Hill Flagstone pavers in the color Granite Fusion. A double border using a sailor and soldier course outlines the entire patio, adding depth and interest. The sailor course uses Unilock’s Holland Stone in Charcoal and the soldier course in Brussels Block XL. We also used that same stunning hardscape border to accentuate and delineate the dining and seating areas.
The finishing touch to the area is the versatile retaining wall that embraces the new hardscape stairs leading into the home. This area was built using Unilock Brussels Dimensional in Limestone.
