Our most recent project in Marysville, OH, serves as the perfect example of turning an outdoor “to do” list into an outdoor “to done.”
When Archadeck of Columbus initially consulted with these homeowners they only had a step-out-stoop as backyard access. This type of structure is common on newer homes as the builder often leaves the home void of any outdoor live space. We actually look at this element (or lack of) as a positive, because it gives the client a clean slate to bring their ideal outdoor area to life — and, that is exactly what we did!

These homeowners were excited about increasing their functional outdoor living real estate. They were looking forward to entertaining in their new space, along with creating treasured memories with friends and family. One of the items on their “must have” list was a space that was low-maintenance yet high-aesthetic. As the area’s premier TimberTech and AZEK deck builder, and Unilock patio builder, meeting their desires was no problem!
First, Archadeck of Columbus perfected a design that combined all the benefits of a deck and Patio, This pairing provides a catalyst for outdoor living directly from the back door, along with a patio that extends the functional space into the back landscape.
The deck was built using TimberTech Pro Reserve decking in the color Driftwood. Archadeck of Columbus used this same decking for the skirting to give the design a high-aesthetic using monochromatic hues. We topped off the space with an black aluminum rail.
The patio and hardscapes were constructed of solely Unilock products. The patio field is Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone pavers in the color Granite Fusion. We finished the patio using a soldier course border in Unilock’s TopThorne paver. Moving onto the rectangular fire pit, which is prominently featured for the most comfort and versatility, we used the Brussels Dimensional System in the color Limestone. We carried this look throughout the seating and retaining wall for consistency. You may also notice we used a graduated design on the retaining wall cap to create more visual interest. Additionally, the bottom of retaining wall is tapered to help keep wall from tipping out. This fine details are key factors in our commitment to excellence in design and construction and why you can have peace of mind in knowing our patios are built to last.
The final design feature we used to unify the hardscape areas is the way we capped everything with Brussells Block XL pavers in the color Limestone. This final touch gives a finished look to the entire project.
