The back of this beautiful home originally featured empty space, void of any outdoor living structures—just think of all that potential! Now, after working with Archadeck of Columbus, these Dublin, OH, homeowners have two distinct outdoor living spaces with loads of functionality. Outdoor living potential fulfilled!
With a full deck and a generous-size patio, this is what we call a combination outdoor living space. The homeowners have two distinct outdoor spaces that can be used together as one for entertaining. Plenty of room to mix and mingle! For smaller get-togethers or simply relaxing at home, both outdoor spaces have their charms and each one offers a restful view. And that’s not all! The new patio features a hot tub just a few steps away from the home’s back door.
A Dublin OH Low-Maintenance Deck Designed for Peaceful Relaxation
Our clients chose to add a TimberTech low-maintenance deck as the first structure they would step out to when they opened their back door. It’s a comfortable outdoor room with just the right amount of space. How do we know that? Because we designed this deck based on a discussion of the homeowners’ needs. We spent time talking with them about what size deck they envisioned, how they planned to use it and what furniture they would place there.
Backyard before Archadeck of Columbus began the deck and patio addition.
For their beautiful new deck, the homeowners chose TimberTech Edge Prime+ decking in the Sea Salt Gray color. TimberTech composite decking boards provide the look of wood without the chore of wood maintenance over the years. Additional benefits with this type of decking include its 25-year fade and stain warranty and 25-year product warranty as well as its easy-to-clean surface. The clients completed their deck design with a powder-coated aluminum railing in black.
After – wow – what a difference!
The new deck blends easily with the home’s exterior and looks like it was part of the home’s design all along.
A Patio that Pleases – Complete With Hot Tub, Too!
We built this striking Dublin OH paver patio with timeless, versatile Unilock pavers. The main field of the patio features Unilock Camelot pavers in the Granite color. The accent row along the edge features Holland Premier in Charcoal. For the retaining walls, the homeowners chose Unilock Brussels Dimensional in the Limestone color with contrasting wall caps of Unilock Brussels Fullnose in Dark Charcoal. The pillar caps at each end of the retaining walls are made of Unilock Ledgestone. Notice they way these pillar caps match the chiseled look along the top edge of the home’s stone façade.
The retaining walls serve several functions in this hardscape design. Visually, they define the space and add depth not found in a two-dimensional design. They provide additional seating so the homeowners won’t need to crowd the space with too many chairs taking up a lot of room. Finally, they deliver a bit of privacy, too.
Tucked away but always accessible here is the clients’ hot tub. We poured a concrete pad for the hot tub adjacent to the paver patio. With some builders, that’s all the homeowners might have expected. At Archadeck of Columbus, though, we like to add special design touches where they can contribute extra aesthetic appeal. In this project it’s the Unilock Brussels Fullnose border we added to the concrete pad for the hot tub. The border obscures the side of the concrete pad and matches the patio’s charcoal accent row. This small, extra touch makes the hot tub area an integral part of the overall hardscape design.
