This masterpiece in Johnstown, Ohio, outdoor living is by Archadeck – of course. In the heart of Johnstown, Archadeck Outdoor Living has once again showcased their expertise and creativity with this stunning outdoor living space project.
The original home featured a deck with an existing outdoor room underneath it, but the homeowners were ready for a transformation
Before:
Archadeck's custom design and engineering team devised a plan to remove the old deck and start anew, resulting in a spectacular creation that seamlessly blends functionality, beauty, and durability.
The Solution: A New Covered Deck
The focal point of this project is the new covered deck, designed for long-term outdoor enjoyment with minimal maintenance. To achieve this, Archadeck used AZEK TimberTech Prime decking in the popular Coconut Husk color, a timeless choice that harmonizes with the natural surroundings of Johnstown. For safety and aesthetic appeal, Preferred Aluminum railing in gray was installed, creating a striking contrast against the rich hue of the decking.
After:
A Gable Roof With Paulownia Wood Truss Details
This covered Johnstown deck boasts a graceful gable roof adorned with handsome truss details, all crafted from Paulownia wood. This choice of material is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical, as Paulownia wood is known for its lightweight nature, fine grain, warp resistance, and rapid growth. The silvery-grey patina of the Paulownia wood adds another layer of beauty to the overall color palette of the backyard structure, creating a cohesive and inviting outdoor space.
Cedar Tongue And Groove Ceiling: Weather-Resistant And Timeless
Underneath the gable roof, the interior ceiling of the covered deck is crafted from Cedar tongue and groove, a premium material known for its exceptional weather-resistant properties. Cedar's natural resilience against moisture, decay, and insects makes it an ideal choice for outdoor structures, ensuring long-lasting beauty and functionality.
The Enhanced Lower Level, A Hybrid 3-Season Room
The lower level of the outdoor living space was upgraded to a hybrid 3-season room using a four-panel window system from Porch Conversions. This addition allows the homeowners to enjoy the outdoors in comfort while being protected from the elements.
The ceiling of the 3-season room is made of Pine tongue and groove, providing a warm and inviting ambiance. To safeguard against moisture, rubber roofing was installed under the deck, ensuring that the 3-season room remains dry and comfortable throughout the year.
Innovative Moisture Management By TimberTech Dry Space
To further enhance the usability of the exposed deck area, Archadeck incorporated TimberTech Dry Space, an innovative under-deck drainage system. Dry Space effectively collects and channels moisture from the spaces between deck boards, creating a dry and usable outdoor living space below. This feature expands the functionality of the covered deck, doubling the livable outdoor space for the client family.
Exterior Detailing With Hardie Plank Lap Siding
Attention to detail also extends to the exterior of this 3-season room, where a knee wall featuring Hardie Plank lap siding provides both durability and aesthetic appeal. Hardie Plank siding is renowned for its durability, resistance to moisture and pests, and low maintenance requirements, making it a dependable choice for outdoor applications.
This Archadeck Outdoor Living project in Johnstown, Ohio, is a testament to our expertise in designing and constructing outdoor living spaces that seamlessly blend functionality, aesthetics, and durability.
From the elegant covered deck with its Paulownia wood truss details to the hybrid 3-season room and innovative moisture management solutions, every aspect of this project reflects Archadeck's commitment to creating outdoor spaces that enhance the quality of life for their clients.
