Not everyone has the budget or desire for a composite material deck. Archadeck of Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana still designs and sells many wood decks and we do it right! This Steuben County lake cottage is a perfect example. The old deck had been contorted by an even older concrete slab underneath that had cracked and heaved over the years. We removed the old deck as well as the concrete slab. New footers were set 36" deep, below the frostline, to prevent any future movement of the new structure.
Ground contact treated lumber was used for the foundation structure and the top decking. A parting board eliminated any butt joining of the deck boards. Full width stairs lead to the lakeshore. A bench and side stair with rail completed the project.

Phase 2 for these homeowners will be a lower level deck extending from the full width stairs giving them loads of space to relax, entertain and enjoy the beauty of the lake.
