Here’s an interesting outdoor living question for you.
What does a family do when they desire a ground level outdoor living space in their backyard but are challenged by the fact that their backyard is sloped leading to the water’s edge?
Why, they call Archadeck of Fort Wayne, of course!
This family had been enjoying a second level screened porch for years that was atop of a first floor walkout. And as much as they enjoyed their time within the porch, they also wanted to be able to enjoy unobstructed outdoor living so they called Archadeck for their free, no-obligation design consultation.
A DECK THAT RISES TO THE OCCASION TO BRING OUTDOOR LIVING CLOSER TO THE WATER’S EDGE
As this Fort Wayne deck builder toured the rear of the property surrounded by abundant hydrangea, we saw the problem.
Their backyard was sloped so dramatically that there was precious little level real estate to build a good size deck for the family to enjoy. Putting on our thinking caps, we suggested a generously sized deck platform that worked against the slope, creating height with structural support posts as the deck got closer to the water.
OUR FORT WAYNE CUSTOM DECK DESIGNS NOW PROVIDE A TRIPLE VISUAL TREAT FROM ANY ANGLE
In designing this new deck, we thought about how we could best compliment the natural lay of the land in their backyard.
Having all of that lush, beautiful flora around the rear of the home, and the crystal water opposite it, we wanted to create some form of visual drama. We also wanted to honor the family’s request of having the new deck require as little maintenance as possible due to its location at the extremity of the backyard.
Having decades of experience in designing and building Fort Wayne low maintenance decks, we suggested – and eventually used – AZEK decking in the color of Brownstone with Kona accents.
The two colorways of this synthetic, eco-friendly deck material give a stunning view in all three areas of this new outdoor living platform.
To create a safety barrier around the new deck without hindering the sightline to the water and nearby areas, we chose Westbury railing to enclose the new space.
And to eliminate the need for bulky outdoor furniture that would interfere with the views from the deck, we constructed built-in deck seating at the two farthest extremities of the new deck.
