If you’ve ever wondered how glass railings would look on a deck at your home, let this project in SW Fort Wayne give you a peek. These homeowners called Archadeck of Fort Wayne for a two-part project. We replaced a small, elevated wood deck with a new low-maintenance deck, new railings and stairs. We also replaced all of the railings around a larger elevated deck using beautiful, clear glass panels instead of traditional balusters or pickets. Don’t you love these glass railings?
Glass Railings Allow Maximum Visibility from Any Deck
This home’s large elevated deck is actually a stone patio! On the side of the house, it’s level with the home’s driveway, but at the back, the deck/patio stretches out along the second story. The railings we replaced here extended halfway across the back of the house and down steps to the pool area.
Our clients chose glass for their new railing panels to maximize their view. The upper deck/patio overlooks their pool, so with clear railings like these, the family has an excellent view of the pool area. They can enjoy an unobstructed view not only from the upper patio itself but also from within the home.
For these new railings, we used Westbury aluminum rail posts in white. The glass panels hang between a white top rail and matching bottom rail. All of these materials are low-maintenance, so the homeowners won’t need to worry about repainting the white posts and rails. The look is so modern it’s almost futuristic. And what a view!
Time for a Low-Maintenance Side Deck As Well!
The homeowners also had a smaller, elevated side deck of pressure-treated wood and wanted Archadeck of Fort Wayne to replace it with all new low-maintenance materials. They selected AZEK polymer decking boards in slate gray for this part of the project. The side deck and its stairs give the family easy access to the hot tub on their lower patio, not far from the pool. The AZEK low-maintenance deck and stairs are perfect for this location with a hot tub and pool because of AZEK’s slip-resistance. Wet feet? No problem! AZEK even stays cooler to the touch than many other decking options. Great for hot summer days in SW Fort Wayne.

For the new side deck railing, the clients chose white Westbury aluminum railings with thin balusters, another low-maintenance selection. Now both of their decks and all of the railings fit into the low-maintenance lifestyle they prefer.
