At the conclusion of this backyard rebirth, one of our team members was virtually speechless when viewing the completed project from farther back on the property.
“AMAZING” was the only word that fell from her lips.
The result is a veritable utopia of outdoor combination spaces – an upper deck, a lower deck, stunning hard-scapes, a patio with a curved seating wall flanked by majestic columns, a fire pit, and a linear retaining wall.
Whew! I’m exhausted just retelling it.
The Upper Deck That Was Constructed Last Year
Leading from the second story master suite, the upper deck is primarily used for leisure lounging and intimate conversation over morning coffee.
Fashioned out of AZEK Brownstone decking, the surface of this resilient PVC deck is resplendent with interesting textures more common in wood – but wood is nowhere to be found in these beautiful manmade striations.
We literally went against the grain with this capped polymer decking, made with no wood, and featuring Alloy Armour Technology in the cap.
These scientifically engineered boards resist mold, mildew, and moisture damage. Plus, the homeowners can rest easy knowing their decking repels scratches, dents, and stains better than any other material on the market.
AZEK decking boasts the most powerful, natural wood grain visual through proprietary technology and premium design. It’s all this and more:
1. Stain, scratch and split resistant
2. Mold and mildew resistant
3. Durable and long lasting
4. Moisture resistant
5. Insect resistant
6. Limited lifetime warranty
7. Building code compliant (ESR-1667 and CCRR-0101)
8. Cleans easily with just soap and water
9. Pairs beautifully with all AZEK and TimberTech railing lines
The Lower Deck Was Constructed This Year
The lower deck was inspired by the upper, with a slightly smaller reach out, creating an interesting dimension difference from afar.
The same white vertical Westbury aluminum railing was used on both the upper and lower structures, which complements the geometrically beautiful three support posts below.
A Patio To Die For, Designed With Stunning Belgard Hard-scapes
As you glance out from either deck structure, the view downward beckons you to step into outdoor living luxury.
Using an incredible mix of Belgard’s best hardscape products, it’s hard to decide which design element is more spectacular.
Is it the variegated pavers that you step onto from the lower deck? Or is it the slate gray circle constructed with Belgard resilient pavers? And what about the stacked stone curved accent wall and pillars? We simply can’t decide. We love it all. And so do the lucky homeowners.
We love the way the hardscape serves as a sunken enclave that works in unison with the new lower deck, too. It’s reminiscent of the whole "outdoor living rooms" concept.
A Fire Pit Gets Star Billing In The Lower Entrance Circle
Also constructed with Belgard hardscape material, we created a generously sized gas burning fire pit to warm chilly evenings and add coral and orange flickering flames even in the warmest weather. It’s matching curvilinear border showcases the brilliant attention to design details our team created during the complimentary design consultation.
The crowning touch? A new landscape bed to the far right curve of the space covered in rich brown mulch to retain moisture to nourish the boxwoods and adjacent greenery.
