The ravages of time had taken their toll on this backyard combination outdoor living space in Auburn IN. The family wished to have both the worn deck and adjacent paver patio replaced, so they scheduled a complimentary design consultation with Archadeck to start the outdoor home improvement renovation process.

As you can see, it’s a good thing they did!

Archadeck Of Fort Wayne Went In And Removed The Existing Deck And Patio And Designed And Built New Ones

The first part of this Auburn IN backyard transformation was to remove the family’s existing deck and patio combination living space.

Once the rear of the residence was cleared, the first step of this home improvement renovation was to custom design a brand new deck, with a new perspective, easier access and greater functionality.

Whereas the old deck was more of a rectangular shape, our professional deck design team custom designed the new deck to match the angles of the house which ended up being a more chevron shape.

Why A Chevron Pattern For This New Auburn Deck?

Installing a new Archadeck deck in a chevron pattern has a variety of benefits, including aesthetic appeal, structural strength, and versatility.

1. Good looks: A chevron deck pattern stands out compared to traditional straight board decks, giving this outdoor space a unique and personalized touch that reflects the style preferences of the family. The chevron pattern creates a dynamic and eye-catching design that adds visual interest and sophistication to this new combination outdoor living space. More modern and stylish, the chevron deck pattern exudes a more contemporary look for a totally new backyard visual experience.

2. Better durability and structural strength: Thanks to the interlocking nature of this chevron deck pattern, it enhances the structural integrity of the deck, making it more durable and resistant to wear and tear. It’s the diagonal layout of the boards that provide additional stability and reduce the likelihood of warping or shifting over time.

3. Easier maintenance: The slanted design of the chevron deck boards will facilitate water runoff and make occasional cleaning easier, helping to prevent water damage and accumulation of debris. Plus, the tight interlocking pattern will make it more difficult for pests to nest between the boards, reducing the risk of infestations – another huge benefit.

Speaking Of Easier Maintenance, We Installed AZEK TimberTech Landmark Decking

For super durability, this new deck installation features AZEK TimberTech Advanced PVC building materials from its Landmark Collection.

For practical and aesthetic reasons, we recommended a lighter color choice as the deck is south facing; and this lighter color would ensure less heat absorption – a key benefit for bare feet and pet paws.

As for bare feet, TimberTech Advanced PVC decking won’t splinter, and stays up to 30° cooler to the touch with 40% better traction, wet or dry, than other decking products. After all, Archadeck only uses the very best in every phase of your build.

Highly sustainable and eco-friendly, it is made right here in the USA from approximately 60% recycled material, including post-construction scrap like vinyl siding and trim. Even more significant, it’s fully recyclable at the end of its useful life.

How confident are we that TimberTech Advanced PVC decking will outlast and outperform the deck we removed? Several ways, but the most significant one is that AZEK features a 50 Year Fade & Stain Limited Warranty – and that’s in combination with our Archadeck warranties.

A Brand New Westbury Deck Railing With A Touch Of Sentimentality

To define and protect the perimeter of this new Auburn deck, we installed a new Westbury aluminum deck railing to add a durable and stylish finish that enhances the look of this combination outdoor living space.

Made with long-lasting materials, Westbury railing systems come with a lifetime limited warranty, making them the best choice when compared to other railing materials. There are 12 standard colors to choose from; or you can opt for a custom color to perfectly match your property. With approval for both residential and commercial use, trust Westbury aluminum deck railing to provide both style and durability for years to come.

The touch of sentimentality? Glad you asked. Our design team also reused a portion of the homeowners original rope railing as homage to their past outdoor living leisure moments that were most special.

Of course, we made it more structurally sound with the addition of modified posts, as you would expect.

A New Patio In The Same Footprint, Keeping What Works And Replacing What Doesn’t

As for the new patio, it follows much of the same footprint as the original patio because our designers did not want to disturb the beautiful landscaped areas surrounding the patio.

The patio was built using Belgard Origins in the color Cotswold Mist.

Choosing Belgard Origins slab style pavers for a new patio ensures a beautiful, durable, and low-maintenance outdoor space that enhances your home's value and appeal.

These Belgard Origins pavers mimic the look of natural stone, providing a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic that enhances the beauty of any outdoor space.

With impressive durability, they are made from high-strength concrete, and these Belgard pavers are designed to withstand the elements and heavy foot traffic. Plus, they are resistant to cracking, chipping, and fading, ensuring that this Auburn patio remains attractive and functional for many years.
