Welcome to our latest outdoor living project in Rockwall, TX, a covered patio extension … and more. The before-and-after images featured here illustrate two important points about the work we do at Archadeck of Northeast Dallas-Southlake. First, our designs can be quite effective even if you don’t have a huge back yard. Second, we take the time and go to the trouble to match materials used on your home for seamless, “always been there” results.
Our clients had a small, builder-grade covered patio at their back door. They wanted a larger covered space with room for dining outdoors and a special area for the therapeutic hot tub they were ready to add.
Area before Archadeck of Northeast Dallas-Southlake began the project.
As you can see in these photos, we didn’t need to extend too far out into the yard to create a substantially larger covered space. The main patio extension coming straight out from the original is covered by a gable roof, letting in lots of light. To the side of that, we created another patio extension along the back of the house for the hot tub. We designed a shed roof for the hot tub area.
For easy hot tub entry, we had our framers use decking boards to create custom steps. How do you like the handle on those steps? Not exactly a railing, but more than a grab bar. It’s perfect!
We were able to match the home’s shingles so the new gable and shed roof sections look original to the home. We also built 36" columns at the base of all three posts using brick that matches the masonry on the home. It all blends nicely!
We Love This Rockwall, TX, Stain And Stamp Patio!
After building out the patio extensions, we created a stain and stamp surface uniformly across the new and original sections of the patio. We even added a little bump-out patio area for the clients’ grill, off to one side. For their new patio surface, the homeowners selected the cut stone cobble stamp pattern and a cream stain.
The interior of the covered patio features a tongue and groove ceiling stained in dark walnut over the new and old sections alike. You can’t tell where the old ceiling ended and the new one began. We added ceiling fans for breezes on demand and recessed can lighting for nighttime enjoyment. And speaking of electrical work, we made sure to deliver the required amperage to the hot tub!
