Making more of a good thing is never too much for Northeast Dallas-Southlake outdoor living patio lovers.
A perfect example is this covered patio extension and upgrade where the homeowners easily found us by searching for “Dallas custom patio and covered patio extensions and upgrades.”
ADDING SKYLIGHTS TO YOUR COVERED PATIO EXTENSION IS A TRULY BRIGHT IDEA ON MANY LEVELS
During their no-obligation outdoor living space design consultation, this Dallas family asked our designers if while having us extend their covered patio it would be possible to increase the transmission of sunlight into the rear of their home.
Before.
After.
Always eager to solve design and function challenges with a high level of creativity, our design team came up with a plan to extend the roofline of the home rear exterior and add two skylights to give this family the increased level of natural brightness they were looking for.
Long, elegant and slender, the new skylights illuminate the adjacent interior kitchen and great room spaces within the home. In addition to providing better visibility for food prep and interior reading, they also add a very attractive custom design aesthetic to the extended backyard architecture.
USING THE BEST MATERIALS TO CREATE CUSTOM SPACES ARE STANDARD WITH
To beautifully finish the extended roofline, our Dallas patio builder team added a new tongue and groove ceiling extension to shield their existing covered patio area and replaced the siding, augmenting impacted painted construction surfaces with a fresh coat to match what was originally there, giving us a seamless transition.
It is interesting to note for those reading this with an eye for detail that the extended design contains no posts to obstruct the view or traffic flow in the space.
The solution was a win/win for adding value to the home, as well as increasing the functionality of the rear of the house.
To achieve this increase in the architectural area, this Dallas covered paver patio builder installed a triple layer of laminated veneer lumber (LVL) to create the 34-foot span. LVL is a meticulously-engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives. We frequently use it in crafting new headers, beams, and edge-forming material in our patio extension designs.
