These homeowners in downtown Halifax loved their urban home but the outdoor space needed an upgrade. They enjoyed city living but their country-roots had them longing for a quiet and private backyard.
Incorporating a contemporary porch gave them a covered space to entertain and grill even in inclement weather. Skylights were added to allow plenty of natural light in. The new deck was given a two-tone stain in rich, earthy browns. The side wall was finished with horizontal rough-cut boards adding charm and warmth and giving the illusion of a larger space. They lead your eye to the privacy fence and patio below.
The homeowners were looking for an updated paved area were they didn’t have to mow a grassy yard each weekend. A stone patio was laid in it’s place and could double as parking during any winter storms. Low-maintenance stone planters were added for pops of colour along the edge.
As a final touch, we added a small storage shed to the back corner where they could store their tools and toys off season.
