This home just outside downtown Halifax was in need of an upgraded back deck. The homeowners wanted to make sure the structure was low-maintenance and safe for their family.

The new 300 square foot pressure-treated deck blends seamlessly with the existing side deck. We added a 16×9 foot pergola to give a portion of the deck more protection from the mid-afternoon sun. By covering half of the deck space, it created a visual separation for the grilling and dining area – leaving the uncovered portion for lounging and entertaining.

In order to keep the sight-lines free to the beautiful tree-filled backyard below, we opted for black aluminum balusters. The thin black spindles also add a more modern and polished look.
