This Dartmouth family were looking for a safe and sturdy backyard entertainment area. We started by removing the small and aging deck and presented a plan for a multi-level, pressure treated wood deck.
The new project included several defined areas – swimming, lounging, dining, and cooking.
By placing a pergola above the cooking area, just off the kitchen, it provided some shade from direct afternoon sun. The structure gives added protection and privacy, and added definition to the multiple areas. Beside the practical reasons for using a pergola, they also help add visual appeal and create a vertical design element that can be used to display greenery.
