Consider a Screened Porch to Transition from Inside to Outside
Having a transitioning point from outdoors to indoors is something we have been keeping in mind for decades, even centuries. Consider your entry, mud room or garage. They are all a stopping point between each location; a place to take your shoes off, hang up your coat and be greeted by your pet.
Now let’s consider the transition point from inside to outside. A space just outside your door where you feel the crisp air in the morning yet the rain is kept off your head. A safe space for children or grandchildren to play and an area to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
A covered space to barbeque where the mosquitoes are kept at bay was just the thing our Halifax customer was looking for. We took the look of her East Coast home into high consideration when proposing design concepts: classic, clean and charming.
Patio stones in tones of blue were used to keep the overall feeling relaxed and pay homage to the nearby Atlantic Ocean. The high quality screen encloses the area and will stand up to the winds that blow off the water.
We even thought about the clients beloved cat in the design process and included perches where they can lounge in a protected enclosure and enjoy the views.
