What type of projects do you build?

Not only do we build outdoor living projects in Halifax Nova Scotia, we design them as well! We design and build decks, sunrooms, screened porches, porches, stone patios, hardscapes, retaining walls, pergolas, trellises, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, railing systems, built in benches, ramps, docks, pool & hot tub decks, privacy fences and gates.

Do you have different designs to choose from? Or do you only do custom designs?

Design possibilities are endless, that’s why our projects are custom designed and built to suit your needs and lifestyle. If all this freedom overwhelms you, we have a series of deck designs to choose from that will easily fit your style and budget.

Can I buy my design from you and build the project myself?

No, all of our work is custom designed, so we don’t sell our plans.

What type of building products do you use to build your decks?

We use pressure treated lumber, cedar, ipe, tropical hardwood, wood/plastic composite, capped composite and vinyl (PVC) for decks.

Is there a written contract involved with every project?

Yes. We supply you with a detailed contract to protect you from any misunderstandings.

What type of warranty do you offer?

To assure satisfaction we offer two separate warranties…..

Our own warranty provides you with protection against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months; defects in structural fitness for 60 months; and passes through all manufacturer warranties.
A third party guarantee backs our warranty. This guarantee is made by The National Guarantee Corporation and assures your work will be completed as specified.

Do you build all year round?

Yes, we build year-round.

How fast can I receive my estimate? How long do design plans take to prepare?

It varies from project to project. First we send out a representative to your home for a complimentary design consultation. Once measurements and scope of work are determined, our estimating/design team will start preparing your design plan and estimate. Depending on the time of year, this can take anywhere from 1.5 – 2.5 weeks.

What do you charge per square foot?

Archadeck projects are custom designed and built, square footage pricing is meaningless. There are so many variables that affect the final price (height off the ground, site conditions, material choices, local code requirements, complexity of design, etc.) that a simple square footage price would be misleading.

Is Archadeck insured?

Yes, we are fully insured.

Will we need a building permit?

Where a building permit is required by local code, Archadeck will secure that permit for you. It is important to have a copy of your surveyor’s location certificate present during your complimentary design consultation. If you decide to have Archadeck build your next outdoor living space, HRM requires this document in order for us to get a building permit. We gather this information at the beginning of the process to eliminate delays down the road. Here are some important reason why getting a building permit is essential

It’s the law.
It’s one of the ways we protect you.
Some homeowner’s insurance policies will not protect you if an injury occurs on a structure that does not have a permit.

How long will it take to build my project?

Your project length will vary depending on the size of your project. Your local design consultant will be able to provide this information with you during your complimentary design consultation.

What material do you use to build screen porches?

Screening materials are typically fiberglass or aluminum, in either silver or charcoal colours. We offer classic hand-stretched, screen panel inserts with aluminum or cedar frames, or a vinyl trim system (known as Screen Tight). There are other options for screening, including a UV option, heavy-duty pet screen, or very fine weave “no-see-um” screening to keep out the tiniest of bugs.
