A recent upgrade we completed in Northwest Greensboro in Lake Daniels Park shows how you can add a patio cover to completely transform an outdoor area of your home.
These homeowners had a fixed canvas awning over their patio which required installing each spring and taking down when old man winter came to call each year. Not only was this routine exhausting and monotonous, the iron skeleton used for the awning was an eyesore during the times when the awning was not in use. The awning was used to shade a stunning paver patio that is surrounded by lovely landscaping. Since these Lake Daniel Park homeowners enjoyed entertaining outdoors often, they wanted to enhance their outdoor space so they didn’t need to constantly maintain it. They also wanted to rid themselves of the ritualistic routine of dealing with the awning. And they wanted materials that were low-maintenance and still beautiful.

We met with the homeowners and came up with the perfect upgrade to their outdoor space. We transformed the paver patio into a covered patio that includes recessed can lighting, ceiling fans for added comfort as well as skylights to add more natural light into the space. To tie the patio into the existing home we used a shed roof design.

We used low-maintenance vinyl bead board siding and built the columns that flank the new outdoor space to match the columns on the front of the existing home. All the materials used in the project match the existing home and keep the home’s design integrity, and that of the new patio cover in focus.
Ceiling fans, recessed lighting and skylights make this covered patio an extension of the existing home.
