By choosing a mix of quality, low-maintenance materials we are able to provide an outdoor space that leaves plenty of time for enjoyment rather than maintenance. The initial project began with transforming an existing wood deck into a covered open porch. The homeowners were not happy with her existing pressure-treated deck.
We began the transformation of the outdoor space by designing a screened porch to provide shade. The project evolved into a totally low maintenance room that spills onto a hardscape custom paver patio below. We wrapped the entire wooden structure with aluminum to match the existing home. Aluminum is virtually maintenance free. It does not need to be sealed, does not require annual maintenance and can be cleaned with a garden hose or a damp sponge. It will not crack, split, warp or degrade the way a natural material would.

On the interior of the room we added a charming beaded vinyl ceiling which is also low maintenance, an aluminum framed door, a ceiling fan and several electrical outlets. The screened space to keep the insects at bay on those North Carolina afternoons when all is aflutter, including the mosquitoes.
As you exit the new screened room you step down to a stairway that leads to a new stamped concrete patio with plenty of room for the homeowner’s new portable fire pit. The easy transition from one space to the next adds diversity and added function to backyard living.
