When you’re in business to design and build outdoor living structures, as we are …
And you’ve just completed a combination outdoor living space with a completely new deck, pergola, patio, and fire pit… And your client exclaims, “We don’t just have a deck, we have an outdoor living area!”
You know you’ve done your job well.
It feels so good to make a family’s outdoor living dreams come true! That feeling is one of the reasons we do this work. At Archadeck of West Central and Southwest Ohio, we build more than decks, porches, patios, and other outdoor living spaces.
As your Troy, OH, deck builder, we build relaxing afternoons spent enjoying the breeze on your deck. As your Troy, OH, patio builder, we build evenings filled with camaraderie around your fire pit, when nobody wants to go indoors. We build the places where you get to enjoy life, outdoors, at home.
In Troy, OH, Outdoor Living Transformation Looks Like This
The project you see here is a combination outdoor living space that deck and patio designer Archadeck of West Central and Southwest Ohio recently completed in Troy, OH. We replaced an old wooden deck with a new, low-maintenance composite deck, pergola, paver patio, and fire pit combination. The homeowners are thrilled with the results.
—Before
The original elevated deck was completely exposed to full sun. The only way to get out of the sun was to go underneath the deck or go inside the house. The deck had big, wide railings that blocked a good bit of the view. While the home had a small, concrete patio directly under the deck, it did not extend out into the yard.
—After; a new low-maintenance deck with all the trimmings!
For the new deck, the clients wanted low-maintenance materials, and they wanted plenty of shade. For the new patio, they wanted a fire pit and a patio that extended into the yard so they could sit under the stars on warm Ohio nights.
New Combination Space Delivers All Around
For their deck, the homeowners selected Armadillo low-maintenance composite decking in the Campfire color. No more wood deck maintenance for this family! Their new, white Mt. Hope railing system is made of low-maintenance material as well. The new top rail is much less obtrusive than the old one so now they have a clearer view of the yard. The white railings along the deck and down the stairs brighten the whole area.
And they have shade! While you may have heard that pergolas don’t always provide ample shade, this pergola will deliver much more shade than most. The white vinyl pergola, also from Mt. Hope, is designed with angled lathing overhead for the most shade available without a solid covering. The simple presence of the pergola defines the space and also makes the deck more inviting.
We built the beautiful hardscapes with pavers from Oberfields. The patio features Oberfields’ Earth blend Lexington pavers from their Americana Collection. The charcoal border, made with Oberfield’s concrete pavers, is a nice contrast to the patio’s field of Earth tones. The wood-burning fire pit is made of Oberfield’s Edington Dimensional blocks in the Cuyahoga color, and we used Rosetta Dimensional Coping for the fire pit’s top ledge.
And More to Come …
For a finishing touch on this project, we’ll return and add Shadetree retractable blinds to block the afternoon sun on the deck. When these clients said they wanted shade, we listened.
