It is safe to say, that here in the west central and southwest area of Ohio, we wrote the book on outdoor living space “happily-ever-after” stories. Our knack for taking a backyard that is lacking or void of a place to relish in outdoor living enjoyment and turn it into an oasis is legendary!
Case in point is our most recent custom deck project in Green county, Ohio. These homeowners had little more than a back stoop and concrete pad when we met with them to discuss their anticipated project. Not only did the area offer no space for the outdoor activities they enjoy, it also did not complement the back of their lovely home and landscape. The homeowners could envision the potential the space just outside their back door held, and we were fortunate enough to be tasked with making that happen.
They wanted the whole “outdoor living room” area – we staged the initial design in order for them to access the existing concrete patio areas for now, and eventually a paver patio which they intend to add in the future.
Backyard before Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio began the new deck addition.
Our first course of action was to create a design that added more square footage for outdoor living, and added depth and dimension to the backyard. The design also needed to have an eased traffic flow, making the transition from the backyard to the home effortless.
Archadeck came up with a design that offers dual entry from either side of the yard, and a spacious footprint perfect for endless enjoyment and entertaining. Not only does the deck address the social and spatial purpose for the upgrade, it was also built using low-maintenance materials. This means the homeowners will have to spend minimal time keeping the deck looking like new in the years to come.
We used Armadillo decking in the color smoke with a low-maintenance Mt. Hope Fence vinyl rail in white. The contrast of the grey decking against the white railing is so elegant and timeless. By choosing low-maintenance decking, these homeowner will enjoy a gorgeous deck they will enjoy it for. However, unlike pressure-treated lumber, this decking doesn’t warp, crack, or splinter.
